Activities

The think tank measures the economic, social, and environmental effects of specific projects, companies or sectors. It highlights the “Shared Value” created at the national, territorial or local level for workers, society, shareholders, country, and environment.

Research activities, as well as the dissemination, are divided into some key areas:

  • effects on supply chain, both upstream and downstream
  • data for sustainability reports in accordance with the CSRD
  • direct and indirect job creation
  • generation and distribution of wealth on the territory: induced activities for trade, services, etc.
  • quality and importance of products and services for the consumer’s health and well-being
  • benefits in terms of sustainability, economy, health, safety, etc.
  • other activities and spin-offs to support the territory

Over the years, Althesys has carried out multiple studies based on the creation of the Shared Value for different companies and industries. It developed a specific measurement methodology to give concreteness to “intangible” concepts

The analysis and measurement of the Shared Value created uses a methodology developed by Althesys that integrates literature on the economic and social impact

  • It goes far beyond the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility and the most popular reporting tools, such as the sustainability report.
  • It considers the overall impact of a company or sector and it is not limited to a single aspect like, for instance, the effect on value-added or employment.
  • It is not a simple study of the economic and employment impact of a company, neither of the sole measurement of social impacts.
  • It is based on a proprietary, innovative, and rigorous methodology, developed by Althesys on the basis of Harvard’s Shared Value theory. It has been refined by its application on leading Italian and international companies in different industrial and service sectors.

The analysis and measurement of the Shared Value support companies in designing and communicating development strategies in an integrated vision of economic well-being, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability
